Sanctuary Begins with the Horse

At Madison Grove Farm, sanctuary begins with recognizing each horse as an individual. Some arrive after years of service, others through circumstances beyond their control. Here, we offer safety, companionship, thoughtful care, and the time each animal needs to settle into a life where their choices matter.

Every Horse Has a Story

Horses come to Madison Grove Farm for many reasons. Some are owner surrenders, others are seniors whose needs have changed, and some arrive after circumstances have left them without a safe place to land. Each brings a history that deserves to be understood.

For many horses, Madison Grove Farm becomes their home for the rest of their lives. Others may eventually be ready for a carefully considered new home. We also help local horse owners explore rehoming options when we cannot take another animal into the sanctuary. Whatever the circumstances, our priority is understanding each animal's needs and making decisions with their well-being at the center.

A Life of Care, Choice, and Companionship.

Life at Madison Grove Farm is built around the everyday needs of the horses in our care. Some require specialized feeding, medication, or additional support as they age. Others simply need time, space, and the companionship of a herd.

Our days are filled with feeding, grooming, veterinary and farrier care, and observing the relationships that develop between horses. As a volunteer-run sanctuary, we work to provide consistency, thoughtful care, and opportunities for each horse to make choices within a safe environment.

The Sanctuary is a Community Effort

Madison Grove Farm is 100% volunteer-run and donor-funded. Every day, the care of our horses, donkeys, and mule depends on people who believe these animals deserve safety, companionship, and a life where their individual needs matter.

Volunteering here takes many forms. Some people help with feeding, grooming, and daily care. Others support the farm through maintenance, projects, fundraising, or simply giving their time and attention. We welcome people of different ages, backgrounds, and abilities, and believe there is value in finding a meaningful way for each person to contribute.

Financial contributions are equally important. They help provide feed, veterinary care, farrier services, medications, and the everyday necessities of operating a sanctuary.

Whether you give your time, make a donation, or help share our work with others, you become part of the community that makes this place possible.
